Telford Bike Hub - Bike Club - Bikeability Level 1 and Park Ride

To join in this session children need to be aged 8+ and confidently be able to ride a bike without stabiliers. This is great course for those children wanting to enhance their riding skills and build confidence going on longer journeys.

During this 3 hour session, riders will complete their Level 1 Bikeability award followed by a bike ride around the Telford Town Park.

Bikability Level 1 takes place in a traffic free environment and teaches the following skills:

  • Maintain your cycle: make sure your ride is in tip-top condition and make simple repairs
  • Glide: smooth, calm and collected
  • Control your bike: including setting off, cruising, slowing down, braking and stopping. You’ll even learn to pedal one handed!
  • Pedal: without feeling wobbly or out of control
  • Be aware of your surroundings: looking behind and turning around obstacles

The session will end with a gentle ride around Telford Town Park. Children can bring their own bike and helmet providing the bike is in good working order with two brakes or bikes and helmets can be borrowed from the Bike Hub at no extra charge.

Riders must bring plenty to drink and snacks if they wish.

Weather appropriate clothing must be worn such as a rain coat and sunscreen if required.

Parents do not have to stay to supervise this course. Our Bikeability Instructors are all employed by Telford & Wrekin Council and fully DBS checked and verified.
