Featuring Alan Jenkins and support artists.
Alan is a solo singer-songwriter. He's been featured on BBC Introducing and The Narrowboat Sessions, and has been fortunate to play at some great venues including the Troubadour Club in London and Albert's Songwriter Sessions in Shrewsbury.
He's not sure who his influences are - but you can definitely hear the Modern Lovers, Flight Of The Conchords, Ivor Cutler and Wreckless Eric in there somewhere. He likes to help an audience wander through a selection of quirky, self-penned tunes and barely plausible anecdotes. Described recently as 'unique and funny', 'a local treasure', and also 'a bit weird', Alan likes to engage with an audience and he's looking forward to playing at the Firefly!
Where applicable, advertised ticket prices are inclusive of a venue levy, retained by the venue to maintain our programme of arts and entertainment.
The former member of The Endings and singer / rhythm guitarist with The Doo Dahs will be making a rare solo appearance which will be his first since 2019. Ivor will be playing his own folk songs about Shropshire life and society.
His poignant songs take listeners on a journey touching on Harry Patch, the last surviving soldier from World War 1 who was actually married in the Shropshire village of Hadley. Continuing the military theme, in another song he also reveals how he made a posthumous discovery about his father’s role in the former Yugoslavia during World War 2 during the Nazi occupation. A journey through time.
Pale Fire Music & Left for Dead Records are an independent non-commercial music collective established in 2018 to promote original live music as a Community Music Project in Telford. Forge Urban Revival, a Community Interest Group, played a key role in supporting the Community Music Project to get off the ground in promoting Folk, Roots, Indie, Rock, and Jazz. Not-for-profit promoters, Pale Fire Music & Left for Dead Records, include a team made up of musicians, former public & private sector managers and local businesspeople.
Shropshire born singer songwriter prides himself on his unique but catchy style. Influenced Frank Turner, early Green Day & Billy Bragg, Josh also adds a hint of folk to the mix to give his compositions a unique twist.
With three EP’s and two single releases available to purchase, Josh's songs show a depth and diversity that is winning him fans across the music industry and even resulting in Josh being nominated for "Best Solo Act" at the Shropshire Music Awards 2022. Josh released his third EP "Fireside Lullabies" in 2020 to critical acclaim and his single "Digital Age" as an incredible opening shot from a record that is full of emotion and erudite lyrics that lift the soul and shine a light on the human condition.
