Legendary silent comedian Buster Keaton counted 1928 feature The Cameraman as ‘one of his pet pictures’, and that’s not just because it has a pet monkey in it. This is Keaton at his comedic best, and this hilarity-packed screening at All Saints Church in Wellington is accompanied by a live score from Meg Morley.
Keaton plays a street corner photographer who falls in love with Sally (Marceline Day), the receptionist at a newsreel production office. Determined to impress her, he buys a movie camera and begins a series of attempts to film some ‘on-the-spot’ news, which naturally goes anything but according to plan.
